I am in the initial planning to come to the Caithness area for about 3 months and would like to contact some relations that I am sure are still in the area. Can you give me an email address that I could post some of my details on to ascertain some contacts.
Thanks

I think the key word there is "could". Getting the qualification may lead to paid employment but, as with any professional qualification, it isn't necessarily going to guarantee it.

That said, I think it would be a useful addition to the CV of anyone wanting to pursue genealogy, family history or related disciplines as a career.

I've seen lots of websites offering services regarding family history, searching for coats of arms and so on, but i had no idea that one could get a recognised qualification in this field.

Would it be right to assume that an educational qualification in genealogy could lead to paid employment is of some sort in this field?

Hi Marion

The purpose of the 101genealogy website is to help you find sources of information. If you want to ask a question of the Dorset Family History Society, you'll need to visit their website (there's a link to it at the foot of my posting - where it says, "For more information see:") and ask them direct.

Hope this helps.
