Missing Friends (Boston)
The Boston newspaper Pilot published a column called “Missing Friends” from 1821-1931. This consisted of advertisements from people looking for lost friends and family who had emigrated from Ireland to settle in the US.
These adverts have now been compiled into a searchable database online. As well as providing a great source of information, it also gives a fascinating insight into those people’s lives and Irish immigration. In some cases the men had gone on ahead to take construction jobs and the wives who followed were anxiously seeking to find them.
