Tracing Your Caribbean Roots
Large-scale migration from the west Indies to the UK began in 1948, although there was some small-scale migration before that.
The Caribbean Roots section of the Moving Here website provides an excellent starting point for anyone wanting to trace their family history back to their Caribbean ancestors.
It shows you how to get started, provides sources of information, and gives a few words of warning – it’s not an easy task to research your West Indian family history for a number of reasons. However, challenging though it may be, it’s not an impossible task.
