If you’re interested in tracing your Scottish ancestors you might like to visit the geo.ed.ac website (link below) which has a collection of links to some very useful resources.

Registration of births, deaths and marriages became compulsory in Scotland in 1855. There are also many other sources of information such as Parish Records – some of which date back to 1553. The Church of Latter Day Saints of Jesus Christ (aka Mormons) have also done a great deal of work on Scottish records.

If you’re researching your Scottish ancestors there’s a wealth of information to be found.
